The COVID-19 pandemic continues to leave no stone unturned. NBC News reports that Rep. Jim Clyburn tested positive for COVID-19 shortly before the holiday break. The longtime Democratic lawmaker has said that he is asymptomatic and is fully vaccinated.
“America is in a new phase of this pandemic,” Clyburn said.
“No one is immune to this virus. I urge anyone who has not done so to get their vaccines and boosters. It is the best protection against severe disease and possible death.”
Unfortunately, Clyburn’s COVID-19 diagnosis forced him to miss his granddaughter’s wedding.
“It is a huge sacrifice to miss my granddaughter’s wedding, but it is an unfortunate reality that is playing out all across this country due to the proliferation of this virus,” Clyburn commented.
“We all must do everything we can to keep one another safe and healthy.”
Clyburn is one of nearly a dozen Congressional lawmakers to test positive for the virus during the holiday season. Most notably, Sens. Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren tested positive for the virus last week.
