Jessie Reyez has announced that her forthcoming project, Yessie, will arrive on September 16, 2022. The Grammy-nominated musician has not revealed the project’s complete tracklist just yet, but she has shared the album’s latest single, “Mutual Friend.” Produced by Rykeyz, the emotive soundscape centers Jessie Reyez’s one-of-a-kind tone as she sings about a heartbreak that has left her cold and independent.
“If you died tomorrow, I don’t think I’d cry/I gave you one too many nights/Don’t care if it sound cold, it is what it is,” she sings.
“And if you died tomorrow, I don’t think I’d cry/I gave you one too many nights/Don’t care if it sound cold, it is what it is.”
Yessie will serve as the follow-up to Before Love Came To Kill Us. Release in 2020, the 14-track project included contributions from 6LACK and Eminem along with standout tracks like “Imported” and “Figures.” It peaked at 13th on the Billboard 200 Chart and was shortlisted in the “Contemporary R&B/Soul Recording of the Year” category at the 2021 Juno Awards.
Jessie Reyez will look to build upon the success of Before Love Came To Kill Us this fall. While we wait for September to roll around, check out “Mutual Friend” below.
