As Kobe Bryant made the announcement that this season would be his last in the NBA, there were people all around the world showing their love and admiration for one of the best players to ever grace an NBA court.
Bryant will be making his final rounds this season as the Lakers limp to the finish line but there might be a way that Kobe could end up finishing on top and riding off into the sunset. If he is a member of the 2016 Olympic team then he might have a very good chance to win a Gold and Team USA Men’s Basketball director Jerry Colangelo says there might be a spot available for him on the roster.
Following from ESPN’s Marc Stein.

No team on Earth can stop Team USA from winning gold in Rio. Kobe and all his languages as team ambassador … you can make a case for it

If you saw him at London 2012 and watched how much Kobe thrives in that role when wearing red, white and blue … would be a fitting sendoff

Kobe has said before that ending his basketball career in 2016 with the Olympic team would be a dream come true and he’s talked about that scenario before. It would be nothing different for Kobe because as Stein points out, Bryant has been there before and he thrives in Olympic play, even at his advanced age.
For Bryant to be able to win a gold alongside some of his younger peers like Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, James Harden and Blake Griffin would be something to write about. And when it does happen, expect there to be an emotional sendoff for Kobe.
