The Kansas State Wildcats have found their next Head Coach in Baylor Bears Assistant Coach Jerome Tang. This comes just after the former Head Coach Bruce Weber stepped down from the position. Kansas State was not expected to retain Weber into next season had he not stepped down beforehand. The Baylor Bears were eliminated in the second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament in overtime by the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Wildcats decided to stay within the Big 12 for their next Head Coach.

Jerome Tang has spent nearly two decades helping build the Baylor Bears into a Big 12 powerhouse and knows a thing or two about winning. The Baylor Bears finally reached the mountain top last year in the 2021 NCAA Tournament where they were crowned the NCAA Champions. Now after years of hard work as an assistant coach, Tang will get to build up his own Big 12 program. Kansas State expects to compete and be near the top of the Big 12 standings every single year. The Big 12 will change a lot in the next few years and it will take a good coach to withstand those changes.

It is always good to see long-time hard-working assistant coaches getting their due and becoming Head Coach themselves. Now though Jerome Tang will be direct opposition of the team he has called his own for nearly two decades. Storylines like this make college basketball truly a thrilling sport to follow. The Big 12 is set to be even more exciting next year.
