Steve Nash has been on record all summer saying that he is back to full health and for the Lakers, that is great news. The Lakers need Nash to play great and have a solid backup in Jeremy Lin come off the bench.
But according to Mike Breshanan of the Los Angeles Times, Coach Byron Scott might be leaning towards Lin.
Scott said he hadn’t made up his mind on a permanent switch, but he appeared to be leaning toward Lin, 26.
“I have no doubt in my mind that if I went to Steve and said tomorrow, ‘You know what, I’m going to start Jeremy and the games that you’re available, we’re going to bring you off the bench,’ he’s such a professional that I don’t think it would be a problem whatsoever,” Scott said.
Mike Trudell of Lakers.com also added some great injury notes about Nash.
Neither Lin (ankle) or Nash (hamstring/nerves/back) practiced today. Clarkson (calf), Henry (back) and Kelly (hamstring) were limited.

Nash has yet to speak to media about what he’s dealing with, but the back-nerves-hamstrings are all connected, similar to last year.

Well I say good for Byron Scott. Ever since Nash came to the Lakers he’s been the defacto starter for an underachieving team. It’s time to change it up a little bit and with Nash at age 40, all the injuries and declining games played since he turned 38, Lin just might be the better choice. Steve Nash played 50 games at age 38, the lowest percentage of his team’s games he’d played to that point. At 39, he played just 15 games surpassing his previous lowest percentage game mark he set at age 38.
Lin’s game is similar to Nash’s and he’s drawn many comparisons since his days in New York. While Nash is a first ballot Hall-of-Famer, Lin right now, would be the best fit for the Lakers.
Linsanity might start up again, but this time on the west coast in Purple and Gold.
