Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson shines in the first-look footage from the upcoming Aretha Franklin film, Respect.
In the new teaser, Hudson sings a portion of Franklin’s best-selling hit, “Respect”, while wearing a glittering, gold dress. She sings, “What you want? Baby, I got it.”
Behind the scenes, Liesl Tommy will direct the film and Tracey Scott Wilson will write the script. Scott Bernstein and Harvey Mason Jr. will produce the film. Meanwhile, Stacy Sher, Sue Baden-Powell, Aaron L. Gilbert and Jason Cloth will act as executive producers.
Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron and Tituss Burges will star alongside Hudson. Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Tate Donovan, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner, and Mary J. Blige will also appear in the film.
MGM is expected to release Respect on October 9th 2020. In the meantime, check out the film’s first teaser above.
