As the drama swirling around Jimmy Butler and the Minnesota Timberwolves organization continues to ramp up, so do the apparently fake rumors. Earlier, The Athletic’s Shams Charania revealed that Butler led a Wolves’ players-only meeting to clear the air but his teammate says this is not the case.
Point guard Jeff Teague tweeted that news of the meeting was not accurate and there was no such discussion.
@ShamsCharania it wasn’t no players meeting you just made that up bro y’all gotta relax with this fake news

Even though according to Jeff Teague there wasn’t a meeting between Butler and his teammates, it may help if there was one. The friction following Butler’s first raucous appearance at practice likely warrants some sort of conversation, especially if he expects to be on the roster once the season commences.
Regardless of whether or not Butler wants to be in Minnesota, it is looking more and more likely that he will remain with the Wolves for at least this season. Though trade talks could carry on into the regular season, the chances of Butler being dealt at this point are slim but it is certainly something worth monitoring as the campaign begins.
