After losing a key piece to the Utah Jazz future you would think the team would struggle. Before the game it was announced that young guard Alec Burks would miss the remainder of the season with surgery to his shoulder. Burks will be missed by Utah but they didn’t miss a beat as the Jazz defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 100-94.
Jazz were led by Gordon Hayward who scored 26 points on the night for the Jazz. Trey Burke also scored 26 points and dished out 6 assists. Derrick Favors scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Jazz and Enes Kanter had a big night scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Rodney Hood, who replaced Burks in the starting lineup, scored 4 points on the night.
Timberwolves didn’t have quite the even night in scoring from their players. Shabazz Muhammad scored 30 points on the night and Andrew Wiggins scored 21 on the night for the Wolves. They were the only 2 members of the team that were in double figures in scoring. The 30 points were Muhammad’s career-high and had since seen a surge in his scoring and playing time this season as his game has drastically improved. Mo Williams and Thaddeus Young scored 9 each for the T-Wolves, Gorgui Dieng and Zach Lavine scored 8 each for Minnesota.
Utah Jazz are 11-21. Minnesota Timberwolves are 5-25.
