Over the past few months, Jay Z was in competition with countless other companies to acquire the likes of streaming services WiMP and Tidal, who were under the head of Aspiro. A few weeks back, Jay Z won that bidding war and purchased the 2 streaming companies for a whopping $56 million. Fast forward to today, Tidalhifi’s website not shows a countdown that ends on March 30th. March 30th will be the widespread re-launch of the streaming service. It’ll be interesting to see if Jay Z can build Tidal up to become a strong contender in terms of streaming with the likes of Spotify. In what may not be seen as a far reach, Jay Z, Beyonce, & Justin Timberlake were all seen as Taylor Swift’s most recent birthday party. What may just simply be friends hanging out could also sparked in a potential power move relating to Jay’s new venture. If you remember, Taylor Swift had all her music removed from Spotify. Could it be that these powerhouses are joining together to help rival Spotify? We’ll just have to wait and see.
