Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter is stepping into the streaming world. The Brooklyn native is set to produce an adaptation of Dwayne Alexander Smith’s novel, Forty Acres. Published in 2014, Forty Acres follows the story of a civil rights lawyer who uncovers a conspiracy. After the novel was published, Smith earned an NAACP Image Award for his work.
Carter is not the only big name tied to this project. Comedian Mike Epps and Luke Cage creator Cheo Hodari Coker are also involved in the project’s development Nilles Kirchner, Bill Strauss and Dana Honor will also step in to produce.
The Brooklyn native is also working on the upcoming Netflix film, The Harder They Fall. The film stars Idris Elba, Zazie Beetz, Jonathan Majors and LaKeith Stanfield. James Lassiter will also join Carter as a producer on the film.
