On Tuesday, we informed you that Jay Z successfully won the bid to acquire streaming services WiMP and Tidal. Along with that news, we also shared that a re-launch for the company would take place on Monday, March 30th. It now appears that Jay Z has been in talks with some of the music industry’s heavy-hitters to help kick Tidal, the new streaming service, off with a bang. Jay has allegedly been in talks with some of the music industry’s biggest execs along with the likes of his wife, Beyonce, Madonna, Kanye West, Coldplay, Rihanna, and many others to further aid him in making this new venture a success. Interestingly enough, it has been reported that Jay Z has offered these music industry force a piece of the Tidal pie in exchange for their participation.
Jay Z’s recently reported gathering of star artists, execs and managers, to discuss his proposed streaming venture has caused quite a stir across the biz. Jay is said to have offered 3% participation to the major artists in attendance, including Beyoncé,Madonna, Rihanna, Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Coldplay, the Daft Punk robots and Jack White, for their assistance in branding and marketing the company.
Rightfully so, Mr. Carter is making sure that he can do everything in his power to make Tidal a success for the long-term. While it’s not clear if the likes of the artists, mentioned above, will make their music solely exclusive to Tidal for streaming, we can infer that Tidal will get first dibs on a plethora of things such as exclusive behind-the-scenes moments that many fans and critics would love to see. To put the icing on the cake, it has also been reported that Tidal will be in partnership with wireless service provider, T-Mobile.
It looks like Jay-Z didn’t just buy Spotify rival Tidal for the lulz, as the high-quality streaming service is now available with T-Mobile’s Music Freedom.
Nevertheless, regardless of the service’s success in the long-run, there’s nothing to be said in a negative light in regards to Jay Z putting forth the effort to take this to the top. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see how everything plays out. Surely, we’ll have more news after the March 30th launch date.
