The NBA Finals may start on June 1st but the petty wars had already begun on Wednesday when an anonymous Cavs’ player stated that JaVale McGee isn’t “smart enough” to stay on the floor during the Finals. McGee responded, discussing how these comments did not bother him in the least.
“It’s an anonymous person. How can an anonymous person piss me off?”
Although it was anonymous, it’s still disrespectful. However, McGee is taking the correct approach to this situation. He went on to speak further on the matter.
“It might not be disrespectful depending on who it’s coming from or it might not be real at all. If you’re not going to put your name on it, then why say it. But that’s even if it’s true (or) if the reporter was making it up just to stir some (stuff) up.”
McGee has stated that he doesn’t have a problem with people speaking their mind because it’s their right to do so.
“I don’t silence nobody. They can say what they want. Freedom of speech, we’re in America, so say what you want.”
In essence, it’d be better off for JaVale McGee to prove the naysayers wrong, rather than stoop down to their level.
