Whether you have made the decision in your head that Kevin Durant is the villain or the hero in your head, Kevin Durant doesn’t care. He has seemingly assumed the villain position in the NBA and a lot of ex-NBA players and executives have come out either for or against Durant’s decision. Charles Barkley was one ex-NBA player that ‘disappointed’ in Durant’s decision.
Jason Williams doesn’t want to hear any of it. The former NBA point guard, white chocolate, was a part of the Posse team in The Tournament, which had ex-nba players and current ones play off in a big tournament, and after elimination, Williams had some choice words for the hall-of-famer Charles Barkley. According to Mike Ortiz Jr. of Did You See That:
Jason, being in Kevin Durant’s shoes would you’ve gone to the Golden State Warriors too?
Williams: Ah man, you can’t put me on Kevin Durant’s level first and foremost. If I was Kevin Durant and that’s what I wanted to do, then that’s what I would’ve done. I wouldn’t have made a decision based on anybody else. Because it seems like he’s done that for 8 or 9 years now. You know you’ve gotta take care of yourself and make yourself happy at the end of the day. I mean all these guys [Charles] Barkley and them talking about oh they wouldn’t have done it, well they was never free agents back in the day…like they didn’t have the choice. Nobody wanted his ass [Barkley] on their team because he was a loser. So that’s what I think about that.
The argument that Barkley made about Durant is that he isn’t comfortable with all the super teams being created in the NBA. If you weren’t around for late 1990’s basketball, you won’t know that Charles Barkley joined a super team of his own. He joined the likes of hall-of-famers Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon to try and take down the Utah Jazz in the Western Conference and push themselves to play Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls in the finals, but injuries derailed the team that the Rockets were never the same. Despite his super team not working, Barkley tried to create his own, which in Jason Williams eyes, make him seem like a hypocrite.
