Kidd has previously served as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets (2013-2014) as well as the Milwaukee Bucks (2014-2018), following his retirement from playing in 2013, when he was a member of the New York Knicks. Kidd, if hired, would be tasked with filling the position left vacant by David Fizdale.
During the course of his Hall of Fame playing career, Kidd forged an identity as one of the most prolific point guards in NBA history, finishing as a ten-time NBA All-Star and ranking second all-time in both assists and steals, trailing only John Stockton in both categories.
