Last year, Jason Bateman launched his original series, Ozark, which has received rave reviews thus far. The drama starring Bateman is currently on track to release its second season on August 31st. In addition, the series also has an outside shot to earn an Emmy nomination this year. With all of the success that the actor has earned on the streaming platform, he has decided to continue his relationship with Netflix. Today, the duo has announced that Bateman’s company, Aggregate, will work with Michael Costigan of American Gangster to produce television and film content for the streaming platform.
In celebration of the agreement, Bateman said, “Michael and I are incredibly fortunate that Aggregate has been welcomed into the Netflix fold. Through my experience with Arrested Development and now Ozark, I have seen firsthand the positive, thriving culture that Ted [Sarandos], Cindy [Holland, head of TV] and Scott [Stuber, head of film] have created. We look forward to working hard with their dedicated and creative teams to contribute to the enormous momentum and high-quality content that Netflix delivers.”
Ted Sarandos of Netflix added on to Bateman’s statement by saying, “I am excited to continue our long relationship with Jason and watch him excel not only as a talented actor and filmmaker, but also as a producer. We are looking to Aggregate as a major supplier for us here at Netflix.” Sarandos also said, “Cindy, Scott and I look forward to merging our vision and goals for the future in film and TV alongside Aggregate’s. The combination of Jason and Michael brings an impressive history of industry experience and relationships here to their new home.”
By partnering with Netflix, Jason Bateman joins the likes Ryan Murphy, Shonda Rhimes, Jenji Kohan and many others who have signed first look deals with the streaming platform.
