James Harden, Markieff Morris, and Marcus Morris have joined the summer circuit. The three led team FOE (Family Over Everything) to its third straight Danny Rumph Classic title on Monday.
The summer league was created after 2005 when Danny Rumph passed away due to a heart condition while playing basketball. The goal of the league is to raise money and awareness in order to get life-saving equipment installed in gyms.
Harden was a special guest for the event. He helped the Morris twins in winning the championship at the event once again.
The game also included some famous spectators. Sixers head coach Brett Brown was there with center Joel Embiid. Philadelphia legend Allen Iverson was also present at the event.
After the game, Brown had the following to say about the event (via SLAM):
“For me, to come here and to feel the vibe of this gym, in a basketball city like Philadelphia…I mean it’s just a good night,” Brown said. “The thing that has surprised me, is that these guys get after it defensively. There’s more defense played in this game than there is in the (NBA) All-Star game, and it’s highly competitive, and the crowd appreciates it. It’s a good night.”
