While many won’t acknowledge it, North Carolina has been one of the best places to recruit and develop talent in all areas of entertainment. In the world of comedy, Ryan Davis continues to shine as both a stand-up storyteller and emerging actor. Off in the world of television and film, Fayetteville’s own Brian Tyree Henry recently starred in Eternals and will return to FX’s Atlanta next month. Meanwhile, the Tarheel State has produced recording artists such as Ruben Vincent and Morray over the last few years. Not to mention, legends like J. Cole, Rapsody, 9th Wonder and Michael Jordan also have roots in North Carolina. With all of that being known, it comes as no surprise that someone like rising artist Jalen Santoy would call Charlotte, North Carolina home.
Many may have come to know Jalen Santoy back in 2016 through his breakout hit, “Foreplay.” While the song was great, Santoy has proven to be much more than one song. Over the years, he’s produced solid records like “Dip” and projects like II Shepherds. Two years after the release of his last LP, Santoy is back with a new project called Without Hesitation.
“Without Hesitation embodies the daunting experience of uncertainty and the reassuring ability to adapt,” Santoy told Michael Major of Broadway World about the new album.
“Through this project, I show evolution is necessary to sustain, but evolution without hesitation is necessary to thrive. As I explore new ways to refine my sound it’s caused me to naturally reflect on moments that have influenced me to move without hesitation.”
Santoy’s Without Hesitation is a diverse, 34-minute effort that features everything from lyricism over soulful patters on “5am Conduct” to my personal favorite, upbeat track, “S.T.A.Y” with Nyla Symone. Whatever you’re looking for, Jalen Santoy has it on Without Hesitation.
