ESPN Analyst Jalen Rose says somebody tried to assassinate him and his friend back in 2003. The former NBA forward says that he was a victim of a carjacking at gun point in which his friend was shot, and is first telling the story now.
Rose shared his story for the first time in a video released by Grantland:
“We pull up to the light at Sunset and Barrington,” Rose said in the video. “I glance to my right and I see a red Cadillac truck. A dude gets out of the back passenger seat, scurries around the car, comes right up to the passenger side of the car and pulls out a 9-millimeter. At first, like anybody else, I froze. I didn’t know what to say, what to do.”
The former Fab 5 Member said he then stepped on the gas and tried to speed away, which led the gunman to fire nine shots towards the Bentley, striking his friend Rizz in the face, which according to Rose, is still lodged in him today.
Rose ended by saying:
“We didn’t go from Detroit to Bel Air for this,” Rose said. “This wasn’t written in ‘The Fresh Prince.'”
