The biggest piece of recent NBA news is that LeBron James would take a pay cut to team up with friends Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. J.R. Smith wants in on that team as well.
From Peter Botte of the New York Daily News:
“That would be dope. That’d be sick,” Smith told the Daily News before the game. “I’d like to see it. I just hope they save me a spot and I’m on the team.”
Smith has ties with both James and Anthony. He played with Melo for over 8 total seasons — they played 5 seasons together in Denver, and 3 in New York. The two were in the midst of their 4th season together in New York when Smith was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he now plays with James. Smith is currently in his second season with Cleveland.

Smith recently parted with Creative Artists Agency to sign with agent Rich Paul of LeBron James’ agency, Klutch Sports.
This season for the Cavs, Smith has averaged 12.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 41% from the field and 39.3% from 3-point range.
