Brooklyn Nets guard Isaiah Whitehead will undergo surgery to repair a ligament in his right wrist, the team announced Tuesday:
Brooklyn Nets guard Isaiah Whitehead underwent successful surgery today to repair the scapholunate ligament in his right wrist. The procedure was performed by Dr. Michelle Carlson at the Hospital for Special Surgery. A timetable for his return to basketball activity will be determined at a later date.

Recovery time for this sort of injury is typically at least four-to-six weeks, so it can be assumed that Whitehead will miss the remaining five games of the Nets’ season.
In 16 games for the Nets this season, Whitehead averaged 6.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in just 11.3 minutes per game. He shot much better than he did last season, albeit in a much smaller sample. He connected on seven of his 18 3-point attempts (38.9 percent) after shooting just 29.5 percent from deep last season.
Whitehead has a team option worth $1.54 million for next season. The Nets have until June 30 to exercise that option and are expected to do so.
