For the past couple of seasons, the Boston Celtics have been slowly building their team up to the contender it is today. After adding center Al Horford to go along with Isaiah Thomas, the Celtics showed what they’re capable of and made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. This off-season, the luck of the Irish proved to be true as they added Gordan Hayward from the Utah Jazz.
Hayward is the third star they’ve been looking for all along and the Celtic’s are poised to make a tough run at the Cavs next season. However, the Celtics will be facing yet another huge off-season decision in the summer of 2018 when Thomas’ contract is up. Thomas, who doesn’t lack confidence, is well aware of next summer and also knows what he’s worth.

“I deserve the max and we’re just going to continue to take care of business on the court and let the cards fall where they may. I’m happy for all the guards and all the other guys getting their money because they deserve it. But my time is coming. They know they’ve got to bring the Brinks truck out. They know that.”
While this may be a time to rejoice if you’re a Celtics fan, Thomas becoming a free agent is slowly approaching and they’ll either have to max him or let him walk.
