UPDATE: ABC has titled the Issac Wright series, For Life. As described by Shadow & Act, the series is “a drama inspired by the true story of Isaac Wright, Jr., once wrongfully convicted as the kingpin behind one of the largest drug distribution networks in New Jersey, who now practices law in the same courtroom where he was sentenced to life behind bars.” This week, ABC has announced that they have approved the pilot and are moving the project to a full length series. Be on the lookout for a first season premiere date in the near future.
50 Cent is about to be a very busy man. It was already reported earlier today that 50 Cent signed a new deal with Starz worth up to $150 million. Now, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson has a new series in development at ABC as well.
The series will center on the real-life story of Isaac Wright Jr. Wright was wrongfully convicted as the kingpin of one of the largest drug empires in New Jersey. While incarcerated, Wright studied law and worked as a proxy-lawyer, overturning the convictions of 20 other inmates. Judges claimed that many of Wright’s writings were better crafted than those written by Harvard-trained lawyers. Wright eventually overturned his own conviction and now works in the courtroom where he was convicted.
Jackson will serve as an executive producer on the series, which he has been working to bring television since last year. Isaac Wright will also serve as an executive producer alongside Hank Steinberg, who will also write the series.
Jackson’s other series Power is currently in production on its sixth season and Steinberg’s creation, The Last Ship, is currently in its fifth season on TNT.
The untitled Isaac Wright series has no release date but will likely air sometime during the 2019-2020 television season.
