It’s been about ten days since Drake release his fifth studio album, Scorpion, and the response to the album has been lukewarm. While giving the album a 6.9 out of 10 rating, Jamieson Cox of Pitchfork described the album by writing, “Drake’s fifth proper studio album is richly produced, studded with gems, and grapples with his fatherhood in a way that casts his arrested development into sharp relief.” Despite receiving lukewarm reviews, the interest in Drake’s music is at an all time high. Shortly after releasing the album, Drake became the first artist to earn one billion streams in one week.

Among the hit records that live on the album, one track has definitely caught on more than others. Drake’s collaboration with City Girls called “In My Feelings” has emerged as a breakout hit. It’s not only been streaming well, but it’s also sparked it’s only social media craze. Everyone from your neighbor to Odell Beckham Jr. has participated in the challenge and Drake has taken notice. As pointed out by Spotify’s Carl Chery, the viral hit may be getting a video in the near future. Drake’s go to director, Karena Evans, was spotted out in New Orleans this weekend shooting a new video. While Drake wasn’t spotted, it would make sense that the bounce influenced record would be shot by Drake’s favorite director in the city that inspired the sound of the song. Not to mention, City Girls right around in Miami, Florida.
In the meantime, we’ll have to wait and enjoy all of the “In My Feelings” videos that will appear on Instagram over the next few days.
