In American history, only three U.S. Presidents have been impeached by members of Congress—Donald Trump, Andrew Jackson and Bill Clinton. While messy, Trump and Jackson’s impeachment trials did not hit not as close to their personal lives as Clinton’s did. Over the course of several weeks, journalists, lawmakers and voters alike began to inquire about Clinton’s political moves and love life in a way that they had never done before. Through this process, one more name would be engrained into the minds of U.S. residents for years to come, Monica Lewinsky. This fall, FX seeks to tell the story of Lewinsky, Clinton and the impeachment trial that surrounds their lives to this day.
“Impeachment: American Crime Story examines the national crisis that led to the first impeachment of a U.S. President in over a century through the eyes of the women at the center of the events: Monica Lewinsky, Linda Tripp and Paula Jones. All three were thrust into the public spotlight during a time of corrosive partisan rancor, shifting sexual politics and a changing media landscape,” the description reads.
Impeachment: American Crime Story will hit screens on September 7. Check out the full trailer from FX below.
