Perhaps for the past 2 years, Iggy Azalea has permanently been trapped on a roller coaster ride filled with major ups and downs. From the major success of her smash single, ‘Fancy’, to the constant and current accusations of appropriating black culture, Iggy Azalea seems to be able to make headlines for all the right and wrong reasons. With the recent announcement that she would be canceling her ‘The Great Escape Tour’, the Australia born rapper was met with disappointment among fans and excitement from her worst critics. Well, Iggy Azalea has broke her silence and shared with Seventeen why she canceled the live offering. Check out some excerpts, below.
I just feel I deserve a break. I’ve been going non-stop for the past two years, nearly every single day. I need a break to figure out what I want my sound to progress to, and I need a break to figure out how I want my visuals to progress.
And then, on top of that, once I postponed [the tour the first time], I couldn’t find two opening acts. I began the search, and to be honest, I never found someone who was available on those dates that I thought was a good fit for the tour.
It just seemed like it was so many things pointing me in the direction of not doing [the tour], that I finally thought, when enough things come your way, you can’t ignore the signs. It was a tough decision to make, but it was the best thing.
Needless to say, Iggy made a few great points with her reasoning behind the cancellation. Still, many are left to wonder if the general public even wanted to see Iggy in arenas across the world. As she concentrates on the next phase of her music career, the singer has much to be happy about as she’s recently engaged.
