Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, finds himself in the center of a high-profile legal proceeding. As his father prepares to run for re-election, he has been accused of willfully failing to pay federal income tax and unlawfully possessing a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver. To settle these charges, he has reportedly reached an agreement with the Department of Justice and authorities in Delaware. First, he will plead guilty to two tax charges. Then, he will participate in a pretrial program for the firearm offense. From there, the Department of Justice will reportedly “recommend probation for [his] tax charges” and dismiss his gun charge.
“Hunter will take responsibility for two instances of misdemeanor failure to file tax payments when due pursuant to a plea agreement,” Biden’s attorney, Christopher Clark, said.
“I know Hunter believes it is important to take responsibility for these mistakes he made during a period of turmoil and addiction in his life. He looks forward to continuing his recovery and moving forward.”
President Joe Biden nor his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, have not commented publicly on the most recent developments in the matter.
“The President and First Lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life,” White House spokesperson Ian Sams stated.
“We will have no further comment.”
