Hulu is launching a Starz add-on option to its streaming service. HBO, Cinemax, and Showtime are all already offered as add-ons to Hulu’s base streaming plans.
Beginning today, October 23rd, Hulu users can add Starz for $8.99 to their plans. Amazon, Sling, and YouTube TV also offer the premium network as an add-on at the same price. Cable viewers still have the best price, DirecTV offers it at $8, but that price advantage is shrinking.
Hulu has been the exclusive streaming service to carry Power and with this users can now watch the entire series on the streaming site. The deal also provides users with the full catalog of Starz original series, such as Counterpart and Outlander. The add-on also gives users full access to Starz catalog of films it has through an exclusive deal with Sony Pictures.
This marks the fourth premium channel Hulu has offered as additions to their base streaming plans. It is also available as an add-on to their live TV plan. The move also marks Hulu’s further push to pull cable users away with a reasonably priced alternative.
The news comes weeks ahead of the November 4th season four premiere of Outlander, one of Starz marquee programs.
