After sweeping awards season like the plague, Hulu was not content to let another weekend go by without making a big splash. Yesterday, they dropped the first look at the second season of their awards darling ‘The Handmaids Tale’.
The first look expands upon the dark tone set by its predecessor and looks set to provide viewers with a whole new host of images that they won’t soon forget. Elizabeth Moss is returning for the second season as well as most of the cast that remained from after the events of the first season.
We’ve attached the trailer and full synopsis of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ below.
‘Based on the best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood, this series is set in Gilead, a totalitarian society in what used to be part of the United States. Gilead is ruled by a fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state, and is faced with environmental disasters and a plummeting birth rate. In a desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world, the few remaining fertile women are forced into sexual servitude. One of these women, Offred, is determined to survive the terrifying world she lives in, and find the daughter that was taken from her.’ Via Hulu
