Hulu apparently isn’t feeling the burn. According to Deadline, the streaming service has canceled plans to move forward with a Ghost Rider series, based on the Marvel Comics character.
Earlier this year, looking to continue the success of Marvel’s Runaways, Hulu picked up Ghost Rider and Hellstrom series to premiere in 2020. However, the former has been canceled due to irrevocable creative differences between Hulu and the creative team behind the series. Though, by all indications, the streaming service still plans on moving forward with its Hellstrom series. It’s unclear if Marvel plans on shopping Ghost Rider around to other networks.
Hulu has had quite the year so far, bolstering its originals with Fox’s The Orville. Seth MacFarlane’s sci-fi comedy will air its third season exclusively on the streamer sometime next year. The third season of The Handmaid’s Tale has also continued to receive near-universal acclaim. It’s done so well that Hulu already renewed it for a fourth season earlier this summer. And, thanks to that upcoming Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle, Hulu’s future has never been brighter.
Hellstrom is set to premiere some time in 2020.
