Howard University has opted to rename its fine arts college after the late Chadwick Boseman. Moving forward, the institution will be known as the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts. The news was made official on Wednesday morning with a Washington Post report.
“Chad fought to preserve the College of Fine Arts during his matriculation at Howard and remained dedicated to the fight throughout his career, and he would be overjoyed by this development,” the Boseman family stated.
Boseman is a graduate of Howard University. While there, he attended a fine arts program in London thanks to the contributions of Phylicia Rashad and Denzel Washington. Just a few weeks ago, Howard University announced that Rashad would be the dean of the newly established Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts.
“It is a privilege to serve in this capacity and to work with the Howard University administration, faculty and students in reestablishing the College of Fine Arts,” Rashad said.
Rashad is set to return to “The Mecca” on July 1.
