Are you having a hard time fitting your videos on YouTube or even in your social media accounts like TikTok and Instagram? Well, this may be because of your video size. There are recommended video sizes for different websites and applications that you need to follow to avoid having trouble with uploads.

Here are some ways you can easily crop your videos:

Download A Video Editor

There are for sale and free versions of different video editor software and applications available for Windows 10 and Mac. But before downloading, you need to check the available video editors for your devices and check their compatibility to ensure that everything will run smoothly, especially if you’ve paid for them. You can check out their websites and read reviews to know whether they’ll work well for you.

Free versions are alright if your goal is just to crop videos since most video editors include cropping features in their basic versions. For more advanced editing, you can purchase premium video software and apps.

Use an Online Video Cropper

You can use an online video cropper to start cropping your videos even without software or applications. You can go directly to websites and upload your videos and crop them according to your preferred sizes.

Nowadays, most online video editing sites have default video size settings for whatever social media platform you have in mind. You can choose from the options, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and others. You can also zoom in and out the video until they fit your desired output. Then, you can immediately share them with your accounts by clicking the share button available.

Use Built-In Cropping Feature Of Your Device

Your devices also allow you to crop videos. They have a built-in feature where you can crop videos according to certain sizes. However, some of the available sizes aren’t fit for your social media accounts. A solution would be choosing the free form cropping, if available, where you can adjust the size of your video with your desired size.

Here are some built-in cropping options:

• For Windows 10, the two common built-in programs for cropping are the VLC media player and Windows movie maker.

• The iMovie can be used for Mac and iOs phones, free software for MAC, and a free application for iOs. For iPhones, you can also click on the edit on your phone and directly edit the video.
• For Android devices, you may also click on the video and edit directly through your gallery.

Use Your Social Media Platform

Even if your video doesn’t suit the size of your post, your videos are cropped by the platform. Such as what Instagram does, where your videos are instantly cropped in a square size for your post. With this, you’ll either have black spaces on the sides or super zoomed videos. It’s up to you if you already want the cut of the video or use another video cropping option from other websites, software, or applications.

One way of avoiding cropping your video will be directly recording from the platform. You can use Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok directly. However, some users think that the quality of the video is compromised if the application is used. So, they prefer using their cameras and cropping the videos after instead. But, if you don’t mind the video quality, you can opt for the platform’s video recording.

Adjust Your Camera Settings

Before shooting, you can adjust your camera settings to the desired size of the videos. You can look for an option in your phone regarding the size before recording. You can choose the size that you want and start recording. You can save your video with the desired size immediately, and you don’t have to go through all the trouble of resizing and cropping.

Ask Video Editors

If you’re really having difficulty cropping several videos, you can ask a friend or relative who is into video editing to crop the videos for you. With their years of experience and knowledge, they can easily do the tasks and give them to you in no time. If you’re short on time, it’s better to ask for help to finish them faster. Most of the time, they’ll be using premiere video editing software. With that, they can add other edits to your videos to enhance the video quality.

Conclusion

Cropping videos is an essential feature you need to know to properly edit your videos before they fit on social media platforms. You can explore many ways to edit them: you can use built-in video editors or free online croppers.
