Jeremy Lamb was traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Charlotte Hornets in the offseason and many people noticed it would reunite former college teammates in Charlotte.
Lamb and his UConn teammate Kemba Walker would be reunited in Charlotte’s backcourt for this season and now it appears that Lamb will be sticking around in Charlotte for a few more season as Kemba’s backcourt mate.
Following from Marc Stein of ESPN.com.
The Charlotte Hornets are on course to sign swingman Jeremy Lamb to a contract extension for three years and $21 million before Monday’s midnight deadline for such extensions, according to league sources.
Sources told ESPN.com on Sunday night that the Hornets and Lamb are close to finalizing the deal.
Lamb hasn’t fully been allowed to capitalize on his potential in the NBA. He was buried on the depth chart in Oklahoma City but now that he’s with the Hornets and his old running mate, there is a big possibility that he can achieve some real success.
The contract for the Hornets isn’t bad considering the impending raise in the NBA’s salary cap. Lamb making about $7 million a season will be on the lower end of some NBA deals considering a max can potentially hit up to $30 million real soon. The Hornets got a great contract on a player who can start or come off the bench and produce.
