San Antonio’s coaching staff has been the subject of coaching jobs all across the league. Along with Borrego, Ettore Messina and Becky Hammon are getting consideration for the Milwaukee Bucks head coaching position. Initially, David Fizdale was considered the favorite for the Hornets head coach, but he accepted the job with the New York Knicks instead.
The Hornets are in the midst of a rebuild of the coaching staff and front office. They fired Steve Clifford after five seasons. Less than two weeks prior to that, Charlotte tapped former Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak for the same position.
