Authorities have reported that two are dead and twenty are injured after a mass shooting in Miami, Florida. Reports indicate that a group of three people pulled up in an SUV and began shooting into a crowd of people that were standing outside of a banquet hall. The hall was reportedly rented out for a concert later that day.
After the shooting, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue found two people immediately dead and helped transport eight others to the hospital. At least a dozen more people traveled to the hospital on their own. Miami resident Angelica Green explained to NBC News what it was like to hear that her son was hit in the mass shooting,
“He called us frantic, telling us he had been shot, that it hurts, it hurts and that he loves us and wants us to know,” she explained.
“My husband is like, ‘No, stay with us, stay with us.’ We hop in the car and we’re talking to him to keep him alert.”
Shortly after victims were transported to the hospital, Miami Dade Police Department Director Alfredo Ramirez III issued a statement via Twitter.
“I am at the scene of another targeted and cowardly act of gun violence, where over 20 victims were shot and two have sadly died,” he wrote.
“These are cold-blooded murderers that shot indiscriminately into a crowd and we will seek justice. My deepest condolences to the family of the victims.”
At this time, the Miami Police Department has not shared the names of any suspects involved in the case.
