The Las Vegas Raiders selected Henry Ruggs III last year with the 12th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He had his entire career ahead of him before making a poor decision that would leave a woman dead. Ruggs faces the legal system now and his NFL career is on pause if it ever begins again.

The state of Nevada does not allow probation for those convicted of DUI causing death and the sentence Henry Ruggs III would face is between two and 20 years. Reckless driving does have a probation option or one to six years in prison. One bad decision by Ruggs cost him his future, his job, and most importantly a person’s life. This entire tragedy could have been avoided with the simple act of calling for a ride.
