Never stop, Never settle. Hennessy fans, it is never a bad time of the day to have yourself a glass of Hennessy, It’s 5 o’clock somewhere right? Well with several choices to choose from in the Hennessy collection the news of a new addition is more than intriguing. Sort of like when Hennessy Black first released, it was hard to track down but many like myself were chasing the wild rabbit looking to try it.
Hennessy Master Blender’s Selection No. 1 is the latest set to be officially announced today. Thanks to Justin Ocean of Bloomberg a detailed encounter with the new cognac was provided and we learn a few things about the upcoming unique cognac that separates it from the bunch.
The new cognac was crafted as a single batch by Hennessy’s master blender of 50 years, Yann Fillioux, a 7th generation master blender. Using hand-selected Eaux-de-vie (is a clear, colorless fruit brandy that is produced by means of fermentation and double distillation. The fruit flavor is typically very light.), It is reportedly bottled at 43% ABV (alcohol by volume) to release aromatic qualities mixed with delicately spicy hints.
Here’s what Justin Ocean had to say about his encounter with his tasting:
My first thought on seeing the square bottle with hand-lettered retro label: “That looks like a bourbon.” My second thought on tasting the liquid: “This tastes like a bourbon.” My third thought: “I could get into this.”
The purpose of the Hennessy Master Blender’s Selection No. 1 was to tap into a new market that would help the Hennessy brand appeal to those who may be fond of it. Or not be real big on cognac but favor bourbon or whiskey.
Master Blender’s Selection No. 1 will be available in 375ml ($45) and 750ml ($80) sizes, with a total case run of 9,300, sold exclusively in the U.S.
