Héctor Garcia may be planning to fight Gervonta “Tank” Davis on January 7, but he is currently engaged in a war of words with another lightweight star. Earlier this week, undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney said that Garcia had previously worked with him as a sparring partner. However, Haney claims that he kicked him out of his training camp because he was not able to keep up.
“I sparred him. He is a tune-up,” Haney told Tha Boxing Voice.
“I kicked him out of camp because he couldn’t hang. I sparred with him for the Joseph Diaz fight. I think I sparred him two or three times but he couldn’t keep up, so I kicked him out and got someone else.”
It appears that Garcia does not recall things happening as Haney remembered. Furthermore, he went as far as to challenge Haney for his undisputed title.
“I don’t know what the f*ck he is talking about. He can’t even crack an egg,” Garcia told ES News.
“Let’s do it. Let’s do whatever we can do to make the fight happen. Get in touch with Al Haymon and Luis DeCubas Jr. and let’s make it happen…I really have no idea what the f*ck he is talking about. My daughter hits harder than he does.”
