Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic, needless to say, wasn’t thrilled when alerted on the recent trade speculation surrounding him on social media:
“That’s bullsh–“, Dragic concluded on the speculation, adding that the rumor didn’t come from him.
Dragic, according to a recent report from The Vertical, is open to being traded away from Miami. The report states that Miami has held discussions with other clubs involving the Slovenian guard this season, including a recent talk with the Sacramento Kings. The Heat took an interest in Darren Collison, according to the report.
Dragic has served as a valuable offensive contributor for the Heat this season, scoring 19.3 points per game on a career-high 42% from deep so far. Miami, who is now entering an unfamiliar rebuilding stage, is in fact open to dealing Dragic for the right package.
The Heat traded for Dragic two years ago, sending away two future first-round draft picks. Pat Riley is likely seeking an offer that brings back something close to what the team first gave up. Otherwise, the Heat would practically admit to failing its short Goran Dragic short experiment.
The annual trade deadline falls on February 23rd this season, giving the Heat two months to figure out their next move.
