Bosh joined the team in 2010 when the Heat traded for him and joined LeBron James as the two notable acquisitions the Heat made that summer. During his time in Miami, Bosh went to four consecutive NBA Finals and won two championships in 2012 and 2013.
Heat’s president Pat Riley talked about what it means to retire Bosh jersey.
“I am proud that Chris will have his No. 1 jersey retired and be honored inside the AmericanAirlines Arena with this recognition for the greatness as a player on the court and his tremendous contributions to the Miami community off the court, his name and jersey will hang forever and always.”
Bosh played his last NBA game in 2016 after having complications with blood clots in 2015 and 2016. Since then, he battled with the blood clots and hoped for a comeback to a NBA roster after he was released by the Heat because of his condition.
