HBO knows its nice. You know when someone knows they’re good at something? That’s how I feel HBO is with their movies and shows. Netflix can drop 3000 originals, they can sweep the Emmy’s, but HBO will forever have good content. Since debuting the Sopranos in the 90s the premium TV network hasn’t skipped a beat and they don’t plan to anytime soon. From Game of Thrones to Westworld, True Detective, and Big Little Lies, here is what lies ahead of us in 2019 for HBO.
That’s right. Game of Thrones test footage was released just there and you probably missed it because it was so quick. In 2019, HBO has plans to release new seasons of Game of Thrones, True Detective, Big Little Lies, Flight of the Conchords, Barry and The Deuce and I’m all here for it. With Netflix giving HBO a run for their money, you know HBO will be up for the challenge. It’s been a while since it even received one.
Big Little Lies will have Meryll Streep and Reese Whiterspoon back at it in an all new season 2, after Season 1 dominated the Emmy’s. True Detective will have Mahershala Ali as the new detective in what seems to be an intense season 3 for the cop drama. Game of Thrones 6 episode series finale will debut in April 2019 and dominate the TV ratings for the month and it might just become of the best shows HBO has decided to adapt and just like that they are back to dominance.
Another show that we will have to watch for is the DC adapted superhero show ‘Watchmen’ which was set to have a debut in 2019 but in the trailer there is no sign of a release. If that is any indication that means that we might just be seeing Watchmen debut in 2020.
