HBO will be bringing to life Ray Bradbury’s classic dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451 to the big screen and they have finally found the actors to star in the movie. The book is set in a future where books have been banned and life has become centred around television and mindless escapes of reality.
Michael B. Jordan will star as the lead protagonist, Guy Montag, who is a fireman whose job is to burn contraband books instead of putting out fires. Jordan’s career has really taken off with successful movies Creed and Chronicle and you can bet that Fahrenheit 451 can be added to that ever-growing tally. He will be joined by oscar nominated Michael Shannon, who will play Montag’s captain in movie. Shannon comes off his oscar nominated performance for Nocturnal Animals and the combination of both talented actors makes us excited for how HBO will bring this adaptation to life.
Here is the official description of the book, if you want to get a better idea of what the movie may be about:
Guy Montag is a fireman. His job is to burn books, which are forbidden, being the source of all discord and unhappiness. Even so, Montag is unhappy; there is discord in his marriage. Are books hidden in his house? The Mechanical Hound of the Fire Department, armed with a lethal hypodermic, escorted by helicopters, is ready to track down those dissidents who defy society to preserve and read books.
