Judge James Burke has decided to increase Harvey Weinstein’s bail from $1 million to $5 million. The decision was made after Weinstein was accused of mishandling his ankle monitor recently. Furthermore, Judge Burke has called for him to be jailed for the alleged incident. Moving forward, Judge Burke warned that if any other issues arise that he would revoke bail and issue a warrant for the former executive’s arrest.
The announcement was made on Wednesday after the disgraced Hollywood executive arrived in court using a walker. However, Judge Burke said, “If you have any further medical issues, the court will not be terribly understanding.”
Weinstein will have his day in court on January 6th. In New York City, he will have the opportunity to stand trial and face accusations of sexual assault and rape. Weinstein has long maintained his innocence regarding allegations of sexual misconduct.
