Halle Berry has signed on to star alongside Josh Gad in the upcoming Roland Emmerich film, Moonfall. The upcoming Emmerich film follows the story of the moon being knocked off its orbit and hurdling towards Earth. In order to stop the impending doom, a space force team is launched in the hopes of stopping the collision.
Throughout the film, Berry will play the role of a former NASA astronaut who holds a major key in resolving this issue. Meanwhile, Gad plays the role of a scientist who discovers that the moon has been knocked out of orbit.
Behind the scenes, Emmerich will direct the film. He will also write the script alongside Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen. Together, the three previously worked together on a similar film known as 2012.
Production for Moonfall is set to begin this fall in Montreal. Lionsgate has projected a 2021 release date for this film.
