In their last matchup, the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies had a classic 3 overtime game that is an early candidate for the game of the season. This time though, the matchup wouldn’t be as close and Memphis would handle business against their division rivals by defeating the Spurs 95-87 at home.
Mike Conley had a huge 30 point, 7 rebound and 6 assist game while continuing to cement his name as the most underrated point guard in the NBA. Conley continues to dazzle this season for Memphis even though his name isn’t even in the top 10 of the Western Conference guard in the early reports for the All-Star game. Marc Gasol had 17 points and 9 rebounds on the night to continue the big season for ‘Big Spain’. Tayshaun Prince came off the bench to score 12 points for the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies won despite being without Zach Randolph.
Cory Joseph scored 18 on the night to lead the Spurs and Marco Belinelli matched him with the scoring total. Patty Mills came off the bench to score 10 points for the suddenly struggling Spurs. Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard did not play in this game and the other 2 members of the ‘Core Four’ struggled as well. Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili combined to score 15 points.
The Spurs only have a 1 game lead over the 8 seed Phoenix Suns.
Memphis Grizzlies are 23-8. San Antonio Spurs are 19-14.
