When Tim Duncan retired from basketball this summer, we weren’t sure if we would ever see him in a Spurs uniform or even attire. After 18 years in the NBA and with the San Antonio Spurs, the absence of Duncan must be something the Spurs can’t have… not just yet. Despite calling it quits, Duncan was spotted in the Spurs training camp practises, and according to Head Coach Gregg Popovich, he can do whatever he feels like. The Spurs posted a photo of Duncan along with another new member of the Spurs staff Monty Williams:

Now you might be wondering what Duncan is doing at training camp and why he’s wearing a Spurs staff shirt. Gregg Popovich chimed in on the conversation by saying that Duncan is a very special type of coach in their staff. Per Melissa Rohlin of the San Antonio Express:
Pop said Tim Duncan has an official position with the Spurs, asked to elaborate, he said he’s the coach of whatever he feels like.

So if it is whatever he feels like. What is Duncan in the mood for right now? Is he developing the younger players? Is he helping teach Pau Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge the ways of a big man? Or is he developing a plan to beat Kevin Durant the and new villains in the NBA, the Golden State Warriors? I just hope to see him on the bench again next year.
