Once again, the Gorillaz are preparing to release new music. The virtual band has announced that it will release a new album called Cracker Island in February 2023. Their latest studio effort will include contributions from Bad Bunny, Thundercat, Tame Impala, Beck, Adeleye Omotayo, Bootie Brown and Stevie Nicks.
“The elevator keeps going up,” Seye Adelekan commented.
“I already preordered a vinyl set,” a fan added.
Cracker Island is the band’s first scheduled album release since 2020. In October 2020, the Gorillaz shared their seventh studio album, Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez. The project features ScHoolboy Q, 6LACK, Elton John, Slowthai, Kano, Fatoumata Diawara, Beck, St. Vincent and Octavian among others. It debuted 12th on the Billboard 200 and ended the year in the 83rd spot.
In preparation for the release of Cracker Island, the Gorillaz are planning to head out on tour yet again. Beginning on September 11 in Vancouver, the band will stop in more than two dozen cities, including Las Vegas, Dallas, Toronto, Philadelphia and Atlanta. The lengthy tour will ultimately come to a conclusion on October 23, 2022 in Miami, Florida at FTX Arena.
A few months after the tour comes to a close, Cracker Island will hit streaming services. Until then, check out the album’s tracklist below.
