On Thursday, August 24, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan launched an investigation into the work of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Jordan and other members of Congress question if the election interference charges levied against former Donald Trump are politically motivated and put forth in coordination with special counsel Jack Smith.
“Ms. Willis’s indictment and prosecution implicate substantial federal interests, and the circumstances surrounding her actions raise serious concerns about whether such actions are politically motivated,” a release obtained by ABC News reads.
The subject of Jordan’s investigation, Fani Willis, denied the accusations aimed in the direction of her and her colleagues.
“There’s really nothing sexy about this,” Willis said, per ABC News.
“There’s allegations of a crime and then to look at the law and if the facts bear out that the law has been broken, then we have a duty and a responsibility to bring charges.”
As Jordan and members of Congress look into the work of Willis, Fulton County authorities anticipate the arrival of former President Donald Trump. The Florida resident is expected to turn himself into authorities after being charged under the Georgia RICO Act. Bond has been set at $200,000.
