Actress Gillian Anderson has secured a first-look television deal with Netflix. Financial details regarding the deal have not been revealed, but Variety reports that the deal is expected to last two years with the option to extend it.
Anderson is not a new face at Netflix. She has won Emmy, SAG, Critics Choice and Golden Globe awards for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in The Crown. More recently, she has taken on the role of Dr. Jean Milburn in the hit series, Sex Education.
Beyond her work with Netflix, Anderson has appeared in The X Files and The Fall. Next month, she is set to play the role of Eleanor Roosevelt in Showtime’s The First Lady.
“Netflix have been an inspiring and supportive home for much of my recent acting work so I am excited to partner with them for the television projects I am currently developing,” Anderson said, according to Variety.
“We have a shared passion for progressive, compelling and engaging stories and I’m thrilled to announce our collaboration.”
