Damon Harrison is the latest member of the New York Giants to find himself in their firesale. After losing on Monday Night Football to the Atlanta Falcons, the team elected to pull the trigger and basically trade away any assets for draft picks.
Eli Apple was first up as he was shipped to the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday and on Wednesday morning, the team elected to trade Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison to the Detroit Lions.
Following comes from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The trade of ‘Snacks’ did not come without some uproar from Giants star safety Landon Collins. The All-Pro safety almost immediately expressed his sadness following the trade.

Harrison, 29, originally joined the Giants in the 2016 offseason after leaving the New York Jets and he immediately made an impact. He signed a five-year contract worth $9.25 million per year with $24 million guaranteed and $30 million over the first three years of his deal. In year three, he was traded away.
‘Snacks’ took to twitter to bid his farewell to New York, a city he’s known as home since he started his NFL career.
Much love to my teammates, the amazing staffs, coaches, and all the fans. This is my second home because of you…?? pic.twitter.com/4VUAjkIHlu

The Lions now find themselves with a top tier defensive tackle, someone they’ve been missing since Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley both found their way out of Detroit. Harrison was named a First Team All-Pro in 2016 in his first season with the Giants after recording 86 tackles and 2.5 sacks as an important part of the Giants defense. The Giants continued to fall off as a team but Harrison still produced with 76 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a career-high-tying seven tackles for loss in 2017. This season he has 31 tackles this season and one forced fumble.
