WBA “Regular” Lightweight Champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis has been arrested for the following offenses in Broward County: battery-cause bodily harm-domestic violence. Police records indicate the arrest took place near Parkland, Florida on the evening of December 27, 2022. The boxer was booked and is being held without bond until a hearing is set as his status is listed as “pending trial.”
Gervonta “Tank” Davis is a popular boxer from Baltimore, Maryland. With a perfect record of 27-0 with 25 knockouts, the Baltimore native boasts prominent victories against Rolando “Rolly” Romero, Léo Santa Cruz and Isaac Cruz among others. This year, he is scheduled to fight Hector Garcia in Washington, D.C. on January 7. If he wins in January, he is expected to fight fellow undefeated boxer Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 15.
Davis has set aside dates for his next two major bouts, but he has not been able to avoid legal trouble in the process. In November 2020, Davis was accused of running a red light and crashing into another car, resulting in the hospitalization of four passengers. Moments after the incident took place, Davis allegedly fled the scene in a separate vehicle. Four months later, he was charged with fourteen counts tied to the alleged incident. He is expected to appear in court in February to address the accusations levied against him. If convicted, he faces more than seven years in prison.
Davis, Premier Boxing Champions nor Showtime have issued a statement regarding the latest charges levied against the Baltimore native or his upcoming bout in the nation’s capital.
